Open Studio & Weaving Workshop with Rachel Thurber

  • Wild Bear Nature Center EcoArts Lounge 20 Lakeview Drive Nederland, CO, 80466 United States (map)

ABOUT
We will be weaving coasters and bookmarks on cardboard looms!

With our cardboard looms, participants will learn to weave their own small pieces that can be used as coasters, bookmarks, small bags, and much more. Everyone will learn different weaving techniques such as a plain weave and a tapestry weave. There will also be different kinds of yarn to play around with.

Rachel will have her loom and participants may get an opportunity to make little weavings on it as well.

ARTIST BIO
Rachel Thurber is 25 years old and born and raised near Chicago, IL. She has always had a love for art, because it was the one thing she was able to have control over. After moving to Arizona to pursue her art at Arizona State University, she immediately became inspired by the environment that surrounded her. At that point she was taking all kinds of art classes, and found that fiber arts had a way of helping her cope in a way that nothing else could. She started weaving in 2017 and there was no turning back. Now, she currently resides in Fort Collins, Colorado, where she draws inspiration for her work from all the beauty our world has to offer.
