SUMMER NATURE CAMPS
“It’s cooler in the mountains!”
At Wild Bear, children enjoy outdoor adventures at several of the beautiful surrounding natural areas of the Nederland region.
Wild Bear incorporates natural science & ecology, stewardship, arts, writing, survival skills, team building, mindfulness, and more into our programming to inspire a love of nature and encourage children’s natural curiosity.

DAYS & TIME OPTIONS

Campers 5-14 year olds, volunteers 13-17 year olds
COST
$90/day. Generous scholarships available. Wild Bear is a CCAP (state childcare assistance) provider.
Pre-registration required, very limited day spots available.
*SHUTTLE AVAILABLE to and from Boulder!
Programs will continue to run in the case of inclement weather! Wild Bear Nature Center provides large spaces with dedicated bathrooms to hold programs indoors when needed. Masks are worn at all times when inside, and the separate rooms for each age group provide enough space for physical distancing. Crafts, stories, games and science will all be integrated into indoor activities when weather does not permit outdoor activity.

Please fill out an intake form prior to your child arriving. Legally, we cannot allow children without intake forms to participate.

Transportation
NEDERLAND: Please drop-off and pick-up your camper at Mud Lake Open Space. Information about drop off and pick up TBA.
BOULDER SHUTTLE: Shuttle service available from Boulder, please add on at registration if interested. The shuttle service uses the NB1/NB2 on the RTD. Students on the shuttle are supported and supervised by our trained staff.
MORNING DROP-OFF (BOULDER SHUTTLE)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DROP-OFF IN NEDERLAND:
Please drop-off and pick-up your camper at Wild Bear Nature Center. Drop-off is between 8am-9am, and pick-up is between 3:30pm and 4:00pm.
BOULDER SHUTTLE:
Drop-off: Please drop your child off at the parking lot next to 200 Pearl St, Boulder, CO 80302 at 8:30 AM.
Pick-up: Please pick up your child at the Canyon Blvd & 6th St Bus Stop (northwest corner of Evert Pierson Kids’ Fishing Pond parking lot) at 4:00 PM.

Wild Bear staff have academic intersts in education, environmental education, biology or related fields and have worked with children for many years. They provide positive, enthusiastic, experienced role models for your child (ren). All instructors are CPR/First Aid trained, and receive full training in Wild Bear’s educational philosophy, group management, and teaching strategies.
All Wild Bear staff are required to receive background checks before they are allowed to work with children.

NederRangers, Mountain Rangers, Wild Naturalists, and Wild Adventurers are based in outdoor spaces near Mud Lake Open Space, Baker Reservoir, Indian Peaks Wilderness, and Wild Bear Nature Center, among others in the peak to peak region.

5-12 year olds, age groups as follows:
NederRangers: 5-6
Mountain Rangers: 6-7
Wild Naturalists: 8-9
Wild Adventurers: 10-12
NederRangers & Mountain Rangers both accept 6 year old. NederRanger sessions are Monday & Tuesday, and Wednesday & Thursday to accommodate a shorter schedule for younger kids. Mountain Ranger sessions are Monday - Thursday. In general, Mountain Rangers will go on longer adventures, expecting a slightly higher hiking ability.

Cancellation Policy:
Families may cancel their programs at any time, however Wild Bear will retain a 10% administrative fee until 3 weeks prior to the beginning of the canceled program.
At 3 weeks there will be no refunds to canceled programs.

Log into the system using the registration link above! This information will also be sent out at the bottom of the email you received after you registered. This email would be from Frankie. You can always reach out to Wild Bear directly & we can help clarify what you are registered for.

We will prioritize filling our camps up by session, first. By the beginning of June, email frankie@wildbear.org to discuss options for filling spots that haven’t yet be filled with partial sessions. Alternatively, you can work with a friend in the same age group to fill all 5 days. For example, your camper comes Monday - Wednesday, and a friend who has completed paperwork can fill Thursday - Friday.
