Wild Bear Nature Center is inviting our wonderful mountain community to help us create our beautiful native landscaping at the new Wild Bear location, 88 Indian Peaks Drive, Nederland!
Ways to support:
Volunteer to plant! Sign up for a planting shift!
Donate! Purchase or donate native plants for the site
Lend tools! We’ll need gardening tools for our volunteers.
Shifts are 2-3 hours in length, or you can stay for the full day!

Wild Enchanted Evening
Over thirty years ago, Wild Bear began as a bold dream: a mountain summer camp launched with just $500 and a deep mission to connect children with nature. Today, that spark has grown into a vibrant year-round hub for our entire community, serving local schools, providing enriching summer and school-break camps, and hosting multi-generational programs that connect whole families with the wild. All told, we proudly welcomed over 20,000 annual visitors to our free nature center before it burned to the ground in the October 2025 Lakeview Fire.
Now, we are embarking on our most ambitious chapter yet—building the highest-elevation, net-zero nature center in the United States, designed to give back to the land and community.
Join us on October 16th at the Limelight Hotel in Boulder for a Wild Enchanted Evening. Your ticket purchase directly funds our robust scholarship programs, free year-round nature access, and the future of outdoor education for all generations. Let's toast to more than three decades of impact and lay the foundation for a sustainable future!

World Migratory Bird Day
Come see Wild Bear at this event celebrating our migrating birds!
Bird walks begin at 7:30 am and run every 30 minutes. Education stations open at 9:00 am. Visitors can also take part in a prize giveaway sweepstakes supporting World Migratory Bird Day programs in Latin America.
Friday Camp: Water is Life
Water Is Life!
We're heading to Gilpin Community Center on May 15th for a special program all about the water that makes our mountain ecosystems thrive! 🏔️🌊
From 12–3 pm, kids will dive into games, crafts, and hands-on exploration all centered around one of nature's most precious resources. This one is going to be so good!

Tulip, Fairy & Elf Festival
Come see Wild Bear doing Fairy Science!
Spring officially arrives in Downtown Boulder when the beautiful, colorful Tulip Fairy, along with pint-sized fairies and elves, parade around the Pearl Street Mall "waking up the tulips." This much beloved springtime tradition features live performances, special activities for children and more than 15,000 tulips that adorn the world renowned Pearl Street Mall.
*Rain date is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 1 - 5 pm.

Earth Day Celebration!
Come celebrate Earth Day with us! Join Wild Bear Nature Center on Wednesday, April 22nd from 5–7 pm as we celebrate our planet and recognize local Earth Champion, Jill Dreves, for her dedication to our community and the natural world.
The whole family is welcome for an evening of live music, kid-friendly activities, and snacks provided. It's a free, fun, and festive way to mark one of our favorite days of the year!
