Dear Wild Bear Family,
We would like to thank you for registering your child for Wild Bear’s 23rd summer camp, beginning June 5-August 11. We look forward to another extraordinary summer at Wild Bear and are thrilled that you will be part of it. In order for us to be successful, we ask that you help us prepare your camper for the day.
We need each family to fill out at least 2 weeks prior to your camp start date our intake packet. This information is critical to the health and happiness of your camper.
Please read your parent handbook thoroughly to understand the specific rules regarding our policies.
Drop-off and Pick-Up options :
1. Local Drop Off and Pick Up at Wild Bear Nature Center
By state law you must sign your child in and out of the Center. Please drop your child off at the Eco-Arts Lounge at Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center no earlier than 8:00am. Campers feel most comfortable if they can arrive prior to 9:00am when we begin opening circle. Pick up times are between 3:30pm and 4:00 at Wild Bear Ecology Center in Nederland.
2. Boulder Shuttle to Wild Bear Nature Center in Nederland.
Boulder Shuttle Drop off and Pick up Location Map
By state law you must sign your child in and out with Wild Bear instructors. We are happy to staff the RTD bus so that your child can head to the cool mountains for day camp. We would like to stress a few of our rules in order to maintain a safe shuttle transition. 1). Please park your car in the Settler’s Park Parking Lot (1st and Canyon) and escort your child to be signed in with a Wild Bear instructor. Your child will then line up to board the bus. 2) Please do your best to plan ahead and arrive BY 7:45am so that you and your camper have enough time to calmly sign in. The shuttle departs promptly at 8:05am. If you are running late, please consider driving your child up to Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center in Nederland to avoid adding stress to this critical process. We appreciate your working with us on this to assure a safe and positive process.
Children taking the RTD bus back to Boulder leave Nederland at 3:30pm, and arrive at the Justice Center at 6th and Canyon at 4:05pm. Please talk to your child about the importance of waiting with staff until you sign out your child. We must avoid children running toward parking lots, etc. Prevention is always the best policy!
3. NCAR Fridays, Boulder
Where to meet at NCAR
By state law you must sign your child in and out with Wild Bear instructors.
Drop off your child at 8:30am at the Mesa Lab just to the North building entrance.
A prepared camper is a happy camper! Because we are primarily an outdoor program, we encourage you to equip your child with the appropriate clothing for being outside. Please send your child with a BACKPACK and inside please include:
1. extra layers for the daily change in weather
2. water shoes and a change of socks (because you never know when we might be mud mucking)
4. waterproof jacket
5. Please also include a healthy lunch with plenty of snacks
6. and a FRESH, FULL and LABELED water bottle
We do not allow children to share food as it becomes a health issue.
We ask that children leave electronics, money, and toys at home. We do recommend, however, that your child bring in a camera if they wish. It is so much fun for them to document their nature experiences to share at home! Further, if you have special stories, nature artifacts, etc, that your child would like to share in opening circle, we encourage that. It is so much fun to hear about what they are noticing in their backyard!
When you fill out your intake packet please consider hand delivering it Wild Bear Nature Center. We are open to the public every day and encourage you to visit, meet staff, connect with the center and ask any questions that you may have, in person. If this is not possible (which we completely understand) please mail it to us or scan it and email it to email@example.com.
Thank you again for choosing Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center for your summer camp experience. We are so excited to laugh, sing, dance and play in the woods together!
All our best,
Jill, Reba, and Melissa and the Wild Bear summer camp staff and volunteers
