Program Instructor ~ Summer 2012
Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center is seeking a program instructor for 2-3 days/week during the summer season to plan and implement educational programs for children/teens between the ages of 5 and 15. Workshops in the Wild, our acclaimed summer program, takes place Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:30pm in Nederland. Instructors must be responsible, knowledgeable, creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated to providing a safe and age-appropriate learning environment.
Qualifications:
- • Bachelors or Masters degree in Education, Environmental Education, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Natural Resource Management or related field.
- • Minimum 1000 hours experience working with youth required.
- • Three positive professional references.
• Clear background check from the Colorado Department of Human Services and the Colorado Department of Public Safety.
• First Aid and CPR certified (must obtain certifications prior to start of program). - • Good driving record with valid Colorado Driver’s License.
- • Some knowledge of local flora and fauna desired.
- • Experience specifically with fly fishing, primitive skills, and teaching older youth highly desired.
Duties:
- • Plan, prepare and implement safe, fun and environmentally sound educational programs.
- • Supervise children while abiding by all Wild Bear Policies.
- • Ensure safety of all participants.
- • Position requires moderate hiking and the ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
Location: Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center 20 Lakeview Drive Nederland, CO
Duration: Mandatory staff training May 28-June 1; programs run June 4-August 3
Work Hours: 2-3 days/week, 8:00-4:00 M-F
Compensation: $105/day

Environmental Education Internships ~ Summer 2012
Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center is seeking up to five interns for the summer season to assist in the planning and implementation of our youth programs. Workshops in the Wild, our acclaimed summer program, takes place Monday through Friday, 8am-5:30pm in Nederland offering workshops for ages 5-15. Interns must be responsible, creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated to providing a safe and age-appropriate learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Working towards a degree in Education, Environmental Education, Biological Sciences, Natural Resource Management of related field.
- Three positive references.
- Clear background check from the Colorado Department of Human Services and the Colorado Department of Public Safety.
- Experience working with youth desirable.
Duties:
- Support lead instructor in all aspects of summer programs.
- Supervise children while abiding by all of Wild Bear Policies.
- Ensure safety of all participants.
- Contribute to the planning and preparation of program activities.
- Support other aspects of running a non-profit organization when needed such as helping with mailings, prepping and attending community events, etc.

Duration: Mandatory staff training May 28-June 1; programs run June 4–August 3
Work Hours: 40 hrs/week between 8:00am-5:30pm M-F
Compensation: $250 stipend per month; Wild Bear will assist in location of housing; possible school credit; positive reference/letter of recommendation on successful completion of internship
